Project Rational
One of the most difficult things about returning from summer vacation is speaking French again (although I’m sure you all practiced a bunch during the summer!!!).This project is a way for you to have gun and at the same time communicate clearly in French about someone you know very well – you!!! Welcome to your personal video dating service, or video resume, introductory video to Harvard (like in Legally Blonde)
The Project
You will prepare a short biography that will be shot as a video. You may use real or fictional information to create a character. A list of required elements is given below. In preparing for the video, challenge yourself. Go beyond the basic elements to expand your description. For example, in addition to saying that you like music, tell about your favorite artist. Besides telling your zodiac sign, tell what qualities of that sign apply to you.
When it is time to shoot your video, incorporate some background music representative of you. Please memorize your presentation. If you need a list telling the various areas you wish to discuss about yourself- that’s ok. You want to appear natural, conversational. Costumes are nifty!
Finally the class will watch all the videos. You will need to take notes about your classmates for a follow up activity
Required elements:
Greeting, name, age, profession, height,eyes and hair color** , sogn of the Zodiac ,personality, hobbies, ambitions ,type of person or job you’re looking for ,Phone number, farewell
** When talking about the body, the French rarely use “mon, ton ,son”. They don’t say “My hair is….”Instead they say“ I have brown hair.I have blue eyes – J’ai les cheveux bruns, J’ai les yeux bleus”.
Criteria to be assessed:
Inclusion of music
Presentation – creative, lively, well- memorized
Content and inclusion of required elements
Quality of French grammar
Quality of French Vocabulary
Timing – at least 2 minutes
